Located in London, this church remains standing despite the numerous upheavals through the more than one thousand years of its founding. The structure at present is more than 700 years old, outlasting different royal families and even surviving the ordered dissolution of the Benedictine monastery, whose order originally built the abbey. Originally constructed in the Romanesque style, it was eventually renovated to Gothic style and has undergone various restorations and additions throughout the years, such the two western towers near the entrance of the abbey.
